I’ve decided to post updates here rather than on the crowdfunding site. I think there is no link back to that site from here, and I am not ready to add one yet.
I have acquired a tower PC with plenty of RAM and active cooling. `guix pull’ runs in reasonable time now, instead of tens-of-minutes to hours. I’m using the SSD from my broken laptop, so still running Debian. The new machine needs more storage and a few other bits before it is ready to be used as intended in this project: one of its roles will be to generate OS images for the other devices I have, so it will need to crossbuild for arm64 and armhf as well as amd64… assuming I don’t acquire any further devices or use any user-facing software. Storage requirements are likely to run to a few TB at least, so I wait until next month, when I can acquire larger storage, to attempt to set it up for the aforementioned role.
In the meantime I have a lot of reading and writing to do on the org file, and I hope to update the export here within the next week or so.
